February 2013: My Journey with Thirty-One!

19 Feb

Ladies, it’s been a while since my last post. I’m just so excited about my Thirty-One business and had to share some of what I’ve been up to lately.

Here’s a snapshot of my life this month as an independent director with Thirty-One Gifts:

Feb. 1-3: Attended my first SHE Leadership Retreat. The retreat was offered by two Senior Executive Directors and held in Orlando. The weekend was full of amazing training and fellowship. They surprised us by having a professional photographer there and we were each able to get a professional headshot taken as their gift to us. So nice!! I had so much fun meeting and learning from leaders all across the United States (pictured below). That’s me on the top row, second from right.

Feb. 6: Registered for my first National Conference. Thirty-One will celebrate its 10th Anniversary in July in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This will be my first National Conference ever and the first time I’m leading a team (Team Creating Possibilities)! I’m so excited. The first year I joined Thirty-One (May 2010), I didn’t attend since NC was in July and I was still getting my feet wet as a consultant. The following year, I earned a free ticket to National Conference but I was newly pregnant and wasn’t sure about traveling to Ohio. {I have always regretted not going!!} Then last year, I had just returned to work after a nearly six months maternity leave and was still nursing my baby… so I wasn’t able to go yet again. This year… NO EXCUSES! Plus, I think I may get to walk across the stage and be recognized for promoting to director in June 2012.

Feb. 7-11: Went on my first Leadership Incentive Cruise to the Bahamas. I earned this cruise from my sponsor last year when I promoted to director. There were 12 of us on the cruise… each of us earned it. This was an incredible trip. I have never traveled so well with 11 other women. Being a Thirty-One Consultant is truly a sisterhood and we bonded, creating new friendships. I don’t have a sister and it was so nice to get to know these women. We had so much fun together that we’re already planning an annual trip for our teams to earn when promoting to director. Thank goodness we weren’t on that stranded cruise!! It would have been a completely different trip. Thankful we had running water and power — and a great time!

Feb. 17: Shared Thirty-One at the Perfect Wedding Guide Bride Expo. Had so much fun sharing Thirty-One with the brides-to-be at the expo. I was amazed at how many had never heard of Thirty-One. I loved sharing the idea of hosting a party several months before their “Big Day” so they can use their hostess credits to purchase their bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts. Many had never thought of this and were excited at the possibility of getting their bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts for free. I met a few brides who were also interested in becoming consultants themselves. Luckily for them, Thirty-One is currently offering an “O.J” (or Opportunity to Join) incentive. I would be so excited if they were to join my Team Creating Possibilities and received the $99 rebate. Essentially, all they would need to do is enroll as a consultant before April 1st, submit their first $1,000 in sales within their first 30 days (that’s two average parties… very doable), and they would receive their initial $99 investment back as a rebate, plus $250 in commission… that’s money they could put toward planning their own wedding!

Feb. 18: Celebrated & Connected with consultants in our area. I woke up with an earache and wasn’t sure if I would make it to our meeting. Thankfully I was feeling better because I was co-hosting a Celebrate and Connect meeting in the evening with another director in our area. We watched an amazing video from our founder Cindy Monroe about our Thirty-One Gives Foundation. The foundation is celebrating its first birthday this month. The video introduced us to Thirty-One’s newest national mission partner Girl Talk, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building self-esteem in middle school girls through its mentoring program. I’m so excited about this partnership. We also led special training and received free products (bullet points below). Just another perk of being a consultant and director with Thirty-One.

This is what I received as a director. I’ll have to post a photo later!

• Easy Breezy Tote in Island Damask (March Special)
• Soft Wallet in Island Damask
• Zipper Pouch in Lotsa Dots
• Party Cards
• Pro Duffle in Pink Lotsa Dots (NEW product — April Special)

Thirty-One always sets us up for success!! Well, that’s it for now… I hope to post more soon! xo

My 5-month journey as a Thirty-One Consultant

31 Oct

{UPDATE: Feb. 19, 2013. This post was originally published on Oct. 31, 2010. I have since promoted to Director and am leading a team of three Senior Consultants and 22 Consultants in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas. Our Team is “Creating Possibilities.”}

It’s been an amazing ride since I became an independent Thirty-One Gifts consultant just a few short months ago. Since I enrolled in mid-May, I promoted to Senior Consultant and now have nine people in my downline, four of which were personally enrolled by me. My sales this month are almost $2,800 which means I’ll be donating $140 to Harbor House of Central Florida. I couldn’t do it without the support of my customers and my team. THANK YOU!

I’d like to introduce you to the amazing women on my team. I believe in supporting my team members and am only a phone call or email away. Our team sales this month are nearly $10,300. We currently represent four states. Thirty-One was just named the 5th fastest growing company by the business journal in Columbus, Ohio. We would love for YOU to join our growing team! Our goal is to represent all 50 states.

Direct Selling News calls Thirty-One Gifts, Gifted & Talented

So proud and honored to represent this growing company!” ~ Carolyn

An excerpt of the original article written by Lauri Dodd and published in the September 2010 issue of Direct Selling News

Thirty-One Gifts is turning heads for their ability to rack up incredible growth numbers, while maintaining a close-knit family feel.

Maybe today would be the day. Jeanie had gotten off work just a little bit earlier, in the hope that the adorable little boutique downtown would still be open, even for a few minutes—that’s all it would take to make her desired purchase. Weeks earlier, she had spotted a cute trinket that would make the perfect gift for her friend, Susan. Now, as she rounded the corner, she held her breath in anticipation, and then nearing the storefront, promptly exhaled a long sigh. With shoulders slumped and more than a little dejected, she made her way slowly back to her parked car. Like her last three attempts to peruse the shelves of the delectable retail store, today would, in fact, not be the day.

Cindy Monroe

It is for working women like Jeanie that Thirty-One Gifts was created seven years ago. Founder and CEO Cindy Monroe was working in corporate America at the time, and she, herself, had experienced the frustration of never getting to visit the corner gift boutiques, because they were always closed before she got home from work. “The goal right from the start was to provide products that were gift-able, ones that previously were only available at exclusive retail shops,” says Scott Monroe, Thirty-One Gifts Chief Branding Officer and Cindy’s proud husband. “As her idea came together, she remembered the success she had with direct selling in college and knew that was the only way to go.” Now, in less than a decade, the young company continues to rack up the accolades, and an entire industry has begun to take notice.

Ask anyone at Thirty-One Gifts, and a good majority will, no doubt, point to the company’s culture as the No. 1 reason for their involvement—the organization’s driving force, if you will.

So why am I a Thirty-One Consultant?

30 Jun

That’s a good question… I have a successful full-time job that I absolutely LOVE… so why did I decide to become a Thirty-One Consultant? Here are just a few of the reasons…

REASON #1: The opportunity to earn my money back: Let’s face it… money talks! With the 2010 May/June $99 rebate offer, I had nothing to lose! I was already in LOVE with the products. I knew I was going to order gifts anyway. I was excited at the possibility of earning some of my money back. And the starter kit came stocked with $300 in product and supplies! Why the heck not? Plus, it gives me the opportunity to pay it forward through fundraiser events!

REASON #2: Trust & Training: I really trust my friend Ashley. Ashley is my Thirty-One sponsor. She and I went to high school together but we had not seen each other in several years. Facebook reconnected us recently. Ashley is a loving mom, a compassionate labor & delivery nurse, she goes to church on Sundays and she volunteers her time serving the homeless in our community. She is such a good person that I trusted her and her experience. I was also inspired by her success in such a short amount of time… she has already been promoted to Director. Not only do I trusted Ashley… I also trust Thirty-One. It’s such a GREAT company and they offer outstanding training modules such as online webinars (I call in using my Skype account), podcasts, videos, to name just a few! There is also a support system within the virtual Thirty-One Gifts Yahoo Group, an online community exclusively for consultants to share stories, ideas, tips, news, and joys!

Celebrate ~ Encourage ~ RewardREASON #3: Inspiring Women: I love that it’s a company founded by women and run by women whose sole mission is to celebrate, encourage and reward women. I love meeting with other consultants in my area and sharing our experiences. I hope these women become lifelong friends.

REASON #4: Fashion-Forward Designs: my background is in marketing and advertising, and I’ve taken a few courses in graphic design and interior design. I’ve also been fortunate to have worked for some fashion-forward clients such as Hugo Boss, Bulthaup Kitchens, Gaggenau Appliances and the smart car. I love design and Thirty-One products really caught my eye! The catalog doesn’t do them justice. And my customers agree!
